The Kölblwirt Inn is a traditional family-run business rich in history. It was first mentioned in 1781 and has been owned by the same family for several generations. Located 3 km from the village centre and 860 m above sea level, the inn is the ideal point of departure for hikes and expeditions to the Gesäuse Mountains.

Ever since the early days of alpinism, the mountaineering village of Johnsbach has been a central meeting point for mountain enthusiasts – and it still is today. Ski tourers visit us in the winter to enjoy our culinary delights in the valley, climbers and hikers conquer peaks and find rest here in the summer and those seeking balance come to Johnsbach to cherish and enjoy its natural heritage and landscape.

Today, the Kölblwirt is a meeting point for all those who love nature and wish to connect with it through sport. Thanks to being a certified “musician friendly inn”, you might also encounter many a musician staying at the Kölblwirt. And they are not the only ones: Our family and the village of Johnsbach is quite musical as well. Therefore, the Kölblwirt regularly becomes a hub for musicians and music lovers from all over Austria. They come and join us for yodel seminars, music weeks or simply to have a good time, staying true to the old Austrian saying:
