What to expect at the Kölblwirt in Johnsbach in the Gesäuse region? What are its main characteristics? What makes it stand out? Our top priority is to personally serve you the most delicious traditional Austrian dishes. Perhaps you have heard about our tender “Styria Beef”, produced at our own organic farm. Or maybe you would like to celebrate a special event here. It might also have been the mountains or a profound desire to reconnect with nature that brought you to Johnsbach to the Kölblwirt.
The Wolf family – everybody is part of the team
As you enter the Kölblwirt, you are most likely going to witness this or a very similar "typical scene": Whilst our boss and chef Ingrid personally takes care of your wants and needs and serves you at your table, Ludwig is on the phone informing his friend about the current weather conditions in the mountains. Franz updates the wine menu and sets the table with his colleagues. At the same time in the kitchen, our senior boss Mami bakes pies, strudels and cakes and our head chef puts the finishing touch on the gravy for the Styria Beef roast. Uncle Reinhold is sitting on the Metrac refilling the wood chip storage bunker. One must be prepared for when the guests arrive ...
The Kölblwirt in Johnsbach looks back on a long and impressive history. It was first mentioned by name in 1781 and has been in the hands of the same family for generations. And following our tradition, the next generation is already preparing to take over.
